Carlaine L. Willis began painting with soft pastels in 1995 at the Torpedo Factory Art School in Alexandria, Virginia. After moving to Carmel in 1998, she continued to explore other mediums. In 2006 Carlaine joined the Carmel Valley Art Association and has been re-inventing her artwork ever since.

Inspired by Pablo Picasso’s mixed media and surface materials, Carlaine has rendered local sea and landscapes in oil, watercolor and soft pastel, with occasional excursions to still life and portraiture. Her fabulous CLW Jewelry Designs are enjoyed by gallery visitors, but her latest passion is creating portraits and scenes made from needle-felted wool. Caroline creates portraits and teaches classes on needle-felted wool painting, which has become a favorite among pet-lovers.
